Call 999 to talk to the ambulance service. The nearest accident and emergency units are at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford (01865 741166) and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading (0118 9875111).

Wallingford Hospital operates a nurse-operated First Aid Unit from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm on week days at Wallingford Community Hospital, Reading Road, OX10 9DU, telephone 01491 208513. It offers a drop-in service to deal with:

  • Cleaning and simple stitching of wounds
  • Insect bites and stings
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • A foreign body in the eye
  • Sprains and bruises.
There is no need for an appointment, but if you are not sure whether the unit can help you, call 01491 208513 before visiting.

Out of Hours GP services

Call 0845 345 8995. This service runs from 6.30 pm to 8.30 am on weekdays, and 24 hours over weekends and bank holidays. Make sure you have a pen and paper to hand when you call.
