Save The Children

For over thirty years Brightwell-cum-Sotwell has been supporting Save the Children through Wallingford and District Branch. Margaret & Bob Robinson, Norah Kew, Pat Humphries and Pauline Montgomery were stalwarts in their time in building the firm foundations of support that we still enjoy today.

The Committee now consists of Chair- Celia Collett, Treasurer - Sue Lovegrove, Secretary - Anne Baudry, Members- Caroline Walters, Sue Butt, Dee Howarth, Joan Brewer, Alison Zalinski and Sarah Tompkins.

Our main events in Brightwell are the house to house collecting in Save the Children week at the end of April, plant stall in May, charity cricket match in the summer, Christmas cards and goods Sales in the autumn and the carols around the Save the Children Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. We also do other fund raising events in the Wallingford area.

We raise on average £6,000 a year, a significant amount of money to help build a better life for children both in the U.K. and around the world. You can visit www.savethechildren.org.uk to give information about where the money is spent.
