Physically Disabled? Want to Get More Enjoyment from Life?

Enrych believes that everyone has the right to enjoy life with interests and activities that are stimulating, rewarding and fun. As Co-ordinator for the South Oxfordshire based Leisure and Learning Project I support physically disabled people in taking up a leisure or learning pursuit. Either in partnership with a volunteer or by joining a local club or college. The service is completely free of charge to disabled members and the only joining criteria are that members must be between 16 and 75 years of age and live in South Oxfordshire.

Our service is totally tailored to the individual; almost anything is possible. Members are involved in such diverse activities as flying model aircraft, to computing, to genealogy.

By getting involved in a leisure or learning activity they enjoy, disabled people grow in confidence and begin to fulfil their potential. One of the unexpected positive benefits is the impact on a member’s family and friends. The pressure of being a “carer” is eased, as the people they care for gain belief in themselves.

Social events such as pub lunches and days out are also organised. Limited social contact can often leave people feeling isolated and depressed. We aim to bring back the feel-good factor by sharing fun times with like-minded new friends.

If you or a family member or friend is physically disabled and would like to get back a zest for life, then I would like to hear from you. I can be contacted on telephone 0118 9474827 or email Julie.shorter@rcv.org.uk.
