You won’t find much jam and Jerusalem going on at our meetings, in fact you’re much more likely to find us sipping a glass of wine and eating delicious (not necessarily homemade!) cake.
At our meetings, which take place in the village hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm, we regularly welcome visiting speakers or enjoy an activity. We have a number of sub groups including quilting, knitting, swimming and book groups. We arrange occasional theatre trips and lunches as well as hosting a regular monthly coffee morning at our local garden centre, we’re a very social bunch and we like nothing better than to meet new people so why not pop along to see what’s going on.
Our regional federation, OFWI (Oxfordshire Federation of Women’s Institutes), is the umbrella organisation that co-ordinates various activities for all 120 WI’s across the county. OFWI organises outings, holidays and local speaker days as well as a producing a regular newsletter to keep members in touch with what is going on at national level as well as in other local WI’s.
The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) is responsible for the overall running of the WI in England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The NFWI has a longstanding history of undertaking educational work and campaigning on a diverse range of issues. The campaigns tackle issues that matter to women in their communities, from equal pay to climate change, mental health and violence against women to name just a few.the latest WI Newsletter
