The walkway across the weir has been closed since November 2022. Work is due to start soon to remove the old weir structure and obstructions like the boat and trees caught during the floods. All the gates and operating mechanisms will be replaced. The Environment Agency can only do this work in spring and summer this year and next. Work is due to finish in autumn 2025 although the weir walkway may be opened before then. The ferry operated by Bygone Boating is resuming service between the Waterfront cafe and Benson Lock from the end of April when river conditions allow. https://www.bygoneboating.co.uk/
